Our story

THE HOTEL’S HISTORY STARTS IN 1986

1353

Brežice

On the southern rim of Styria, on the riverbanks of the Sava and the Krka, a town is formed around the Brežice Castle.

It eventually becomes an important commercial centre of the Posavje (the Lower Sava Valley) Region.

The River Sava brings rafters, traders to town.

1986

Welcome to the SPLAVAR hotel.

A once typical bourgeois house is transformed into a modern guesthouse.

The name Splavar (Slovenian for “rafter”) honours the tradition of the former Brežice inns serving rafters.

Philosophy

OF THE HOUSE

Z minulo lesno trgovino po vodi so Brežice povezane zaradi posadk splavarjev, ki so po Savi tovorili les na zvezanih zbitih splavih. Na svoji poti iz Savinjske doline po Savinji in Savi do Sremske Mitrovice in Beograda ter po Donavi do Romunije so se splavarji ustavljali tudi v Brežicah. Del smrekovine in jelovine so prodali lesnim trgovcem (gostilničarjem), se v splavarskih gostilnah okrepčali s hrano in pijačo in tu prenočili ter se založili z mesom in vinom za naslednje vodno potovanje proti jugu.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pri nas so se spočili, hiša pa jim je postregla najboljše dobrote, ki jih ponuja Posavje

Naša, hišna filozofija je tesno povezana z besedami Iva Andriča o majhnih gostilnah, namreč delamo s srcem in spoštovanjem do kulinarike in gostov.  Enostavno je, to kar nas navduši, ponudimo gostom in vedno kadar hrana pove več kot bi lahko o njej spregovorili sami, nas premakne na nov nivo ustvarjanja. Prisegamo na kakovost lokalnih sestavin, kajti dobra sestavina v vseh izpostavah svojega okusa je osnova za kreacije, ki zlahka navdušijo v še tako nepričakovanih kombinacijah. Vsak krožnik, narejen in postrežen, je odsev našega spoštovanja in ljubezni do dela, do gosta.
